We have changed the way all our reeds are named. We have all the same reeds as before but they have different names. Before we called the reeds soft/basic, intermediate/medium, or pro. But now they have a number assigned to them based on some new criteria (oboe reeds 1 to 15, english horn reeds 1 to 3, bassoon reeds 1 to 10, contrabassoon reeds 1 to 3). We feel this will be more helpful to people for picking out the best fit reed for each individual player. The number essentially corresponds to how easy the reed is to blow to how easy the reed is to control. There’s more to it, but that’s the basic concept. This chart will tell you the new number assigned to the reed you were getting before.
